The Nishimuta's: An Oral History of a Japanese and Spanish Family

A Dissertation by Juli Ann Nishimuta

This book is the result of more than seven years of research and investigation. The original manuscript is a thesis paper presented for a Master of Arts degree to San Jose State University. I attended San Jose State University from 1992 through 1998. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995; my major was Social Science with a Minor in Womens Studies. I entered the graduate program of the Social Science Department in 1996. My Master of Arts degree is in Social Science with an Emphasis in Womens Studies, which I received in May of 2003.

In addition to this manuscript I have added many family pictures taken by my father, grandfather, and other relatives. I have also worked jointly with my oldest brother Michael, who has produced the Nishimuta Family website, nishimuta.net.  Our aunt, Sister Mary Nishimuta, wrote some very important letters which added greatly to our family history. I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I have enjoyed learning about my own family history.
